Title

A MOTION approving a report on plans to provide public transportation service to the Seattle waterfront and northwest Belltown as required by Motion 14970.

Body

                     WHEREAS, in October 2017, Motion 14970 was passed by the King County council, and

                     WHEREAS, Motion 14970 requires the executive to transmit a motion by July 31, 2018, that approves a report on plans to provide public transportation service to the Seattle waterfront and northwest Belltown as successive phases of construction are completed on projects including the completion of the city of Seattle Alaskan Way, Promenade and Overlook project, Center City Connector Streetcar project and the Washington State Department of Transportation projects related to the Alaskan Way Viaduct demolition and replacement, and

                     WHEREAS, the report includes strategies to improve public transportation service to the area of northwest Belltown previously served by Route 99, provides route alignments and other options that address the needs of residents, visitors, and employees, and includes opportunities for partnerships to implement these improvements, and

                     WHEREAS, Metro Transit has compiled the required information and the executive has transmitted the report as set forth as Attachment A to this motion to the council;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:

                     The King County council hereby approves the Waterfront and Northwest Belltown Transit Study, Attachment A to this motion.
