Title

AN ORDINANCE authorizing the King County executive to execute an agreement with the Valley Communications Center to provide fire and medical aid dispatching services to King County International Airport; repealing Ordinance 18624, Section 2; and declaring an emergency.

Body

STATEMENT OF FACTS:

1.  The King County International Airport receives services from the King County sheriff's office for emergency responder services including law enforcement, aircraft rescue fire-fighting, fire protection, fire suppression and emergency medical aid services.

2.  The sheriff's office only provides dispatch services for law enforcement calls.

3.  To ensure that fire and medical aid responders are dispatched, King County International Airport seeks to contract with the Valley Communications Center for the provision of fire and medical aid dispatch services to the airport.

4.  Due to a clerical error, the correct version of the proposed contract was not attached to Ordinance 18624 when it was adopted.  To ensure the necessary services are provided to the King County International Airport, this ordinance is necessary to authorize execution of an updated and accurate agreement, substantially in the form of Attachment A to this ordinance.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:

SECTION 1.  Findings:  Without the contract with Valley Communications, the King County International Airport will continue not to have a dedicated service to dispatch fire and medical aid responders to the airport.

SECTION 2.  The executive is hereby authorized to execute an agreement with the Valley Communications Center substantially in the form of Attachment A to this ordinance.

SECTION 3.  Ordinance 18624, Section 2, is hereby repealed.

SECTION 4.  The county council finds as a fact and declares that an emergency exists and that this ordinance and execution of the attached agreement is necessary for the

immediate preservation of public peace, health or safety or for the support of county government and its existing public institutions.
