Title

AN ORDINANCE authorizing the King County executive to execute an agreement with the Valley Communications Center to provide fire and medical dispatching services to King County International Airport; and declaring an emergency.

Body

STATEMENT OF FACTS:

1.  King County International Airport contracts with the King County sheriff's office for emergency responder services including law enforcement, aircraft rescue fire-fighting, fire protection, fire suppression and emergency medical services.

2.  The sheriff's office only provides dispatch services for law enforcement calls.

3.  To ensure that fire and medical responders are dispatched, King County International Airport seeks to contract with the Valley Communications Center for the provision of fire and medical aid dispatch services to the airport.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:

SECTION 1.  Findings:  Without the contract with Valley Communications, the King County International Airport will continue not to have a dedicated service to dispatch fire and medical responders to the airport.

SECTION 2.  The executive is hereby authorized to execute an agreement with the Valley Communications Center substantially in the form of Attachment A to this ordinance.

SECTION 3.  The county council finds as a fact and declares that an emergency exists and that this ordinance and execution of the attached agreement is necessary for the

immediate preservation of public peace, health or safety or for the support of county government and its existing public institutions.
