Title

A MOTION appointing an acting King County executive.

Body

                     WHEREAS, on March 27, 2025, Executive Dow Constantine accepted the potion of chief executive officer at Sound Transit, and

                     WHEREAS, it is expected that Executive Constantine will resign the position of King County executive, to be effective before April 1, 2025, and

                     WHEREAS, in 2024, Executive Constantine designated deputy executive Shannon Braddock to serve as the interim executive, and

                     WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 680.10 of the King County Charter, after being apprised of the vacancy in office of the executive, the council shall appoint an acting executive to temporarily serve until the executive vacancy is filled by appointment pursuant to general law for nonpartisan county elective offices;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:

                     The metropolitan King County council hereby appoints Shannon Braddock, in accordance with Section 680.10 of the King County Charter, to serve as the acting King

County executive until the executive office is filled by appointment by the council pursuant to general law for nonpartisan county elective offices.
