A MOTION approving the King County Strategic InformationTechnology Plan 2016-2018, which identifies technology objectives and strategies that provide clear direction and guidance for technology efforts and investments in King County.

WHEREAS, the department of information technology is required under K.C.C. 2.16.0755.B.2.s. to produce an information technology strategic plan with annual updates for council approval, and
WHEREAS, a draft plan was developed with input from information technology governance bodies, business leaders and technology leaders, and
WHEREAS, the prior Strategic Information Technology Plan 2013-2015 saw significant completion as reported in the 2016 Strategic Technology Plan Update that was transmitted to the council on April 29, 2016, and
WHEREAS, the five major strategic themes and supporting content included in the plan were unanimously endorsed by the members of the strategic advisory council on March 31, 2016, and
WHEREAS, the plan demonstrates alignment and support for the King County Strategic Plan 2010-2014, which was updated by Motion 14317 in March 2015;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
A. The executive is requested to revise and expand Attachment A to:
1. Further develop the performance measures to assess progress in achieving the objectives of the strategic technology plan 2016-2018. Such measures shall be focused on assessing whether the intended internal service improvement or public benefit has been achieved;
2. Include objectives and performance measures related to improving countywide IT services, including successfully implementing technology projects such that the operational benefits of a project are realized; and
3. Provide information on the investments costs and potential challenges that will be involved in achieving each of the objectives identified in the Strategic Technology Plan.
