Title
A MOTION to name a lake located on the west side of 9th Avenue in Federal Way, Lake Marckx.
Body
      WHEREAS, the lake located on the west side of 9th Avenue in  Federal Way is near the West Hylebos wetlands, and
      WHEREAS, a proposal to name the lake Lake Ilene was submitted to the Washington state Board on Geographic Names on behalf of the Federal Way Public Academy, and
      WHEREAS Ilene and Francis Marckx are two of the people who together were most responsible for the preservation of the West Hylebos wetlands, and
      WHEREAS, Ilene and Francis Marckx helped to educate the region about the value of the wetlands, and
      WHEREAS, the students at the Federal Way Public Academy and other learning institutions expect to use the lake to learn more about the environment and will benefit from hands-on projects associated with the lake;
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      In recognition of an early activist in wetlands preservation, the naming of a lake located on the west side of 9th Avenue in Federal Way "Lake Marckx" is hereby authorized.
