Title
A MOTION adopting the 2014 work program for the government accountability and oversight committee.
Body
WHEREAS, the council has charged the government accountability and oversight committee with improving the efficiency, cost effectiveness and performance of all branches of county government; and with enhancing oversight, accountability and transparency in King County government, the office of law enforcement oversight, the annual county audit program and federal, state or county audit reports, the administration of the Public Records Act, civil rights and compliance, capital projects oversight, implementation of a pretrial risk assessment tool, strategic planning, performance measurement and performance management, management organizational structure and technology management, and
WHEREAS, the government accountability and oversight committee is also charged with: general government oversight, including customer service, worker safety and the department of assessments; elections; records and licensing; animal control; cable communications; the county fair; King County international airport; risk management; veterans; and executive services such as telecommunications, facilities management, purchasing and real property management, and
WHEREAS, the committee seeks to be fully transparent and accountable to the public for its work program, and
WHEREAS, the committee has, therefore, developed a work plan for 2014 to facilitate its review of major bodies of work as outlined in the attachment to this motion, and
WHEREAS, the committee seeks full council involvement in and support for its work program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
The government accountability and oversight committee's 2014 work program, Attachment A to this motion, is hereby adopted.
