BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
SECTION 1. Findings:
A. This ordinance updates the King County Code to prohibit the retail sale of fireworks, as well as the use and discharge of fireworks without a permit, as allowed by RCW and WAC fireworks regulations. Retail sale and discharge of consumer fireworks would be prohibited at all times of year, including during the summer and winter periods allowed by RCW 70.77.395 absent a local prohibition.
B. This ordinance also relocates fireworks regulations from K.C.C. Title 6, Licensing, to K.C.C. Title 17, Fire Code. This alignment coordinates with the state adoption of the International Fire Code.
