A MOTION authorizing the King County executive to accept a donation of ten acres of property in the city of Carnation valued at four hundred eighty thousand dollars for conservation and passive recreation.

      WHEREAS, King County seeks to find partners who will help increase community and park amenities to ensure parks continue to enhance our regional quality of life, and
      WHEREAS, in 2013 King County helped establish the King County Parks Foundation as a component fund of The Seattle Foundation, to help cultivate private-sector philanthropy to connect communities to regional trails, open space and parks and to ensure the resiliency of the King County parks system for future generations. In part, the King County Parks Foundation seeks to leverage private donations, including land, to connect existing green spaces and trails, and
      WHEREAS, under omnibus parks Ordinance 14509, the King County parks and recreation division of the department of natural resources and parks has the authority to seek gifts from individual, foundation and corporate sources, and
      WHEREAS, under K.C.C. chapter 2.80, any and all gifts for parks and recreation purposes that exceed fifty thousand dollars require acceptance on behalf of King County by the King County council by motion, and
      WHEREAS, all gifts to the King County parks and recreation division are used only for parks purposes, and
      WHEREAS, the land donors, Chad and Douglas Clinton, are third generation land owners who would like the legacy of this forest land preserved for generations to come as Orme's Hill Park;
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the council of King County:
      The King County department of natural resources and parks is authorized to accept the ten-acre land donation valued at four hundred eighty thousand dollars from Chad and Douglas Clinton to be known as Orme's Hill Park, consistent with the King County Parks Donation Agreement provided as Attachment A to this motion for King County parks purposes.  The open space acquisition unit within the water and land resources division of the department of natural resources and parks is responsible for handling the technical real estate transaction matters, including the closing and recording
of the deed and is authorized to execute such other documents as are necessary to complete the transaction.
