Ms. Patterson reported on the South County Area Transportation Board.  The Board received an
update from South Transit on the planning effort of Phase II.  The Board discussed the extending
light rail south of the airport to Highline Community College as part of South Transit Phase II.  Ms.
Patterson shared that the number of trains are being expanded.  The need for transit is tremendous
for South King County.

Ms. Patterson reported on the Regional Transportation Leadership Group.  Ms. Patterson explained
that the group is comprised of business, labor,  environmental and political leaders from around the
region at the suggestion of Representative Ed Murray .   Their purpose is to attempt to reach a
consensus of what changes to ask for in RTID at the next legislative session.  The group is preparing
a draft proposal with recommendations, which they hope will receive Council approval and then
eventually be forwarded to the County Executive of each county.  Ms. Patterson shared one
discussion that hasn't reached consensus is the idea of allowing RTID to operate buses and whether
the use of revenues can be used for transit operation.

Mr. Irons reported on Central Puget Sound Economic Development District Board.  The Board was
briefed on the 2006-2007 budget by Bill McSherry.  Mr. Irons noted four projects were narrowed
down from a large list to be submitted for grants with the federal government.  The specific projects
were the City of Seattle South Lake Union Streetcar, the City of Everett Riverfront Improvements, the
City of Pacific Road Corridor Improvement and a  sewer improvement for the Snoqualmie area to
facilitate a Snoqualmie Tribe Casino.  Mr. Irons and Commissioner Patty Lent reported on an
update to Vision 2020 Plus 10 from the PSRC and GMPC covering growth, economic development,
land use, and transportation and asked the economic development district to give its input.

Mr. Irons reported on Eastside Transportation Partnership meeting.  The meeting covered an update
from Ms. Patterson on Sound Transit.  One area of concern was the discussion of eliminating the
subarea equity that is starting to move forward and is of great concern to the Partnership.  As he is
leaving the Eastside Transportation Partnership, Mr. Irons urged the members to put together a
nominating committee and a strong work plan.

Ms. Edmonds reported on the Seattle-North King County Transportation Board.  The Board had two
guests.  Mary Alice Burleigh, the Mayor of Kirkland discussed the benefits of a joint legislative
effort.  Representative Ed Murray presented his focus on transportation as the regional package to
complement the state's investment.  He stressed transportation governance in this area.  Michael
