Reports on Special and Outside Committees
3.
Ms. Patterson reported on the Puget Sound Regional Council Transportation Policy Board and
indicated that the Board had approved a list of projects receiving federal funding as part of the
Enhancement Program Project.  These projects ranged from pedestrian and bicycle paths, tourist
information kiosks to preserving historic transportation buildings.  All projects were seen as overall
improvement to the transportation system.

Ms. Patterson briefed the council on an important Sound Transit meeting.  The Board prepared a
draft list of transit projects to be considered as a ballot measure in 2006.  Projects are being
evaluated on their benefits, costs, ridership and risks for investing funds for expanding
transportation modes.  The board is working to refine the information to help develop a project list
for consideration.

Ms. Edmonds reported on the Board of Health meeting.  Tom Bristow, King County Government
Relations, presented a Legislative update.  Ms. Edmonds noted that hopes are extremely high

force is expected to have a report in December regarding public health funding.  The board adopted
a resolution regarding the pandemic flu as well as an initiative regarding overweight prevention
which is an outcome of the Obesity Task Force.  The members were also briefed on the use and
misuse of opiates and the rise in deaths from drug overdose in King County.
