Response to City of Burien letter  
Councilmember Zahilay announced that on July 23, 2024, the Council received a letter  
from the City of Burien. On August 5, 2024, Chair Upthegrove emailed members a  
copy of the letter to the City of Burien Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Councilmembers that  
he intends to sign as Chair of the King County Council. The letter clarifies that the  
King County Council is not an investigative body and acknowledges that the City of  
Burien and the Executive are in communication about the issue. The letter also  
welcomes the elected officials to provide public comment on the designated 4th  
Tuesday of the month. Unless there is objection, the Chair plans on signing this letter  
in his capacity as Chair.
