Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 1:48 p.m.
 
Roll Call
Present: Ms. Sullivan, Ms. Edmonds, Ms. Lambert, Mr. Phillips, Mr. Pelz, Mr. McKenna, Mr.
Constantine, Mr. Pullen, Mr. Gossett, Mr. Irons and Ms. Patterson
Excused: Mr. von Reichbauer and Ms. Hague
 
Flag Salute and Pledge of Allegiance
Councilmember Irons led the flag salute and Pledge of Allegiance.
 
Approval of Minutes of April 15, 2002

Mr. Phillips moved to approve the minutes of the April 15, 2002 meeting without reading. Seeing no
objection, the Chair so ordered.
 
Reports on Special and Outside Committees

Mr. Pelz commented on the regional transportation package created by the state Legislature, and
indicated that there are ongoing positive conversations with other counties, including the region's
county executives and Secretary of Transportation, Doug MacDonald.
Mr. McKenna also spoke on this issue, showing appreciation for Mr. Pelz's work. He indicated a
meeting with other county councilmembers is scheduled for May 3 after which they hope to have
some recommendations. He also noted that cities and the private sector have also been a part of the
conversations.
Mr. Pullen commented on the provision for equal representation and the necessity of private sector
involvement.

Ms. Edmonds commented on the recent Board of Health meeting and the presentation on bio
terrorism and how the county should be prepared.
Mr. Constantine also commented on how beneficial the meeting was.
Ms. Lambert commented on the Board of Health meeting and her tour of county and federal
emergency headquarters.

affordable housing program serving very low income persons in a manner consistent with
2002 Wash. Laws 294 (Substitute House Bill 2060).
