Call to Order
The Law, Justice and Human Services Committee meeting was called to order at 9:44 a.m. in the
Metropolitan King County Council Chambers by Chair Larry Gossett.

 
Roll Call
Present: Mr. Gossett, Ms. Lambert, Ms. Edmonds, Mr. Pelz, Mr. McKenna and Mr. Constantine

 
1. Approval of Minutes of April 17, 2003 and May 1, 2003
A motion was made by Councilmember Lamber to move the meeting minutes for April 17, 2003 as
amended and May 1, 2003 as presented. The motion passed.

A MOTION confirming the executive's appointment of Nathaniel Caldwell as manager,
community corrections division, King County department of adult and juvenile detention.
Clif Curry, Council Staff, briefed and answered questions from the Committee.

Sheryl Whitney, Acting Chief of Staff, King County Executive's Office, gave a brief introduction and
answered questions from the Committee.

Nate Caldwell, Acting Manager, Community Corrections Division, Department of Adult and Juvenile
Detention, answered questions from the Committee.
 
A motion was made by Ms. Lambert that this matter be Recommended Do Pass. The motion
carried by the following vote:
Votes: Yes: 6 - Mr. Gossett, Ms. Lambert, Ms. Edmonds, Mr. Pelz, Mr. McKenna and Mr. Constantine
No: 0
Excused: 0

3. Grant Alerts

Collaborative Initiative to Help End Chronic Homelessness
Doug Stevenson, Council Staff, briefed and answered questions from the Committee.
