Call to Order
The meeting of the Transportation Committee was called to order at 1:05 P.M. by Chair Pelz.

Excused: Ms. Edmonds and Ms. Lambert
 
Approval of Minutes

The minutes of February 26 and March 12, 2003 meeting were held.
Discussion and Possible Action

Proposed Motion No. 2003-0118 Ms. Edmonds
A MOTION confirming the executive's appointment of Andrew Bennett, who resides in
council district one, to the King County transit advisory committee.
Doug Hodson, Council Staff, briefed the Committee on Proposed Motion 2003-0118. Mr. Andrew
Bennett, appointee to the King County transit advisory committee was present to brief and answer
questions from the Committee.
A motion was made by Mr. McKenna that this matter be Recommended Do Pass Consent. The
motion carried by the following vote:
Votes:
Yes: 5 - Mr. Pelz, Mr. McKenna, Mr. Gossett, Mr. Irons and Ms. Patterson
No: 0
Excused: 2 - Ms. Edmonds and Ms. Lambert

Proposed Motion No. 2003-0151 Mr. Pelz and Ms. Patterson
A MOTION authorizing the executive to enter into an interlocal agreement to provide
$34,000 in matching funds for a study of transportation improvements in the State Route
167 corridor, generally extending between Interstate 405 in King County on the north and
Interstate 5 in Pierce county on the south.
Paul Carlson, Council Staff, briefed the Committee on Proposed Motion 2003-0151. Carol Hunter,
Washington State Department of Transportation and Ann Martin, King County Department of
Transportation were present to brief and answer questions from the Committee.

The meeting was recessed by the Chair at 1:31 P.M.
The meeting was reconvened by the Chair at 1:33 P.M.

Proposed Substitute Ordinance No.
2003-0152.2
Mr. Pelz
AN ORDINANCE authorizing the condemnation of certain property for the widening and
improvement of South 277th Street, right-of-way No. 9-2001-001, CIP No. 500298.
Doug Hodson, Council Staff, briefed the Committee on Proposed Ordinance 2003-0152. There were
two amendments adopted. This matter passed out of committee subject to signatures.
A motion was made by Ms. Patterson that this matter be Recommended Do Pass Substitute
Consent. The motion carried by the following vote:
Votes:
Yes: 5 - Mr. Pelz, Mr. McKenna, Mr. Gossett, Mr. Irons and Ms. Patterson
No: 0
Excused: 2 - Ms. Edmonds and Ms. Lambert

Relocation of the Transit Communications Center and Related Transit Division Functions. Major
C.M. Cummings, Transit Police, Department of Public Safety; Don Campbell, Senior Project
Administrator, Transit Division, and Jim Jacobson, Assistant General Manager, Transit Division
were present to brief and answer questions from the Committee.
This matter was Presented.
