Call to Order
The Regional Transit Committee was called to order at 3:12 p.m. by Rob McKenna, Chair, in the
Metropolitan King County Council Chambers, 10th Floor, King County Courthouse.
 
Roll Call
Present: Mr. McKenna, Mr. Pelz, Mr. Irons, Ms. Sullivan, Mr. Butler, Ms. Gates, Mr. Gerend, Ms.
Carter, Ms. Schewendiman, Mr. Wilson, Ms. Wills and Mr. Olsen
Excused: Ms. Lambert, Ms. Patterson, Mr. Fletcher, Mr. White and Mr. Conlin
 
Approval of Minutes - March 19, 2003
1.
The minutes of the March 19, 2003 meeting were unanimously approved as presented.
2. Chair's Report
Mr. McKenna thanked the members of the committee who expressed their sorrow at the passing of
King County Councilmember Kent Pullen. Mr. McKenna announced that there would be a public
memorial service on honoring Mr. Pullen on Thursday, April 24.

Mr. McKenna thanked Rick Walsh, General Manager, Transit Division, for a very enjoyable and
informative tour of the transit facilities which was attended by many of the members.
3. Vice Chair's Report
Mr. Pelz announced that the Metro Control Center, which members visited today during the transit
facilities tour, is a topic of discussion in the King County Transportation Committee.
4. General Manager's Report
There was no General Manager's Report.

5. Announcements
There were no announcements.
6. Public Comment
The following people appeared before the committee to offer public comment:

Special Event Transit Service Strategies
Victor Obeso, Supervisor, Service Implementation Group, Transit Division, briefed the committee
and answered questions from the members on the Six-Year Plan Strategy S-12 which discusses
transit service to special events. Julie Corman, Supervisor, Transit Division, answered questions
from the members.
This matter was Presented.

Proposed Motion No. 2003-0173 Mr. McKenna
A MOTION approving transit security policies.
Arthur Thornbury, Council Staff, briefed the committee. Jim Jacobson, Deputy General Manager,
Transit Division, and Captain Ted Stensland, Transit Police, answered questions from the members.

There was no other business to come before the committee.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:15 p.m.
