Reports on Special and Outside Committees

Mr. Phillips reported on the Lake Washington Cedar and Sammamish Watershed Steering
Committee, referred to as WRIA 8, and its purpose to recover chinook salmon. The committee has
moved forward on its conservation strategy and will have a conservation plan ready for public
review some time next year.

Mr. Pelz reported on the Sound Transit Board and the full funding grant agreement that has been
signed to build light rail. Sound Transit will be breaking ground in two weeks.
Mr. Phillips added a special thanks to the Board and staff for their efforts.

Ms. Edmonds briefed the Council on her attendance at the Cultural Development Authority meeting,
held in conjunction with the Board's retreat. Its purpose was to review the past year and a half and
focus on the next eighteen months.
