The meeting was called to order at 1:47 p.m.

Approval of Minutes of April 21, 2003

Mr. von Reichbauer moved to approve the minutes of the April 21, 2003 meeting without reading.
Seeing no objection, the Chair so ordered.
 
Reports on Special and Outside Committees
2.
Mr. Phillips reported on the Cedar River Council. He indicated the Council has been operating for
the last several years on enhancing the health of the Cedar River, and has made success with the
water quality and habitat issues surrounding the river.
Mr. Irons commented that the Council continued to work on redefining its mission statement and
Council guidelines. The Council also modified its work plan and will continue to discuss it at the
next meeting.

Ms. Hague briefed the Council on the Operations Committee of the Puget Sound Regional Council.
She indicated the Council accepted the resignation of Mary McCumber who is retiring and that
Chair Richard McIver is authorizing a national search for her replacement.
 
Special Item
3.
Recognition of King County for receiving a 2002 Pantheon Award from the National Stone,
Sand and Gravel Association
Ms. Hague informed the Council how honored the County is to receive the 2002 Pantheon Award
from the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association for being involved in a project that protected
salmon habitat. She invited Mr. Ron Summers, Vice President and General Manager of the
Washington Division for Glacier Northwest, to the podium. Mr. Summers presented the recognition
to Ms. Hague. She acknowledged the following individuals who were involved in the project and
who were in attendance: Jim Sproull and George Ploudre. She also acknowledged the involvement
of Clayton Rich and Gary Davis who were not in attendance. Mr. Sproull thanked Ms. Hague for
her efforts and others who were involved. Bobbi Wallace, Manager, Department of Natural
Resources and Parks also gave special thanks for the recognition.
