Presentation of a Recognition to Casey Family Programs to Honor Them for Their Exemplary
Performance in Serving Children, Youth and Families Within the Welfare System and in Need of Foster Care |
||||
Mr. Gossett spoke about the Casey Family Programs, a national organization with nine major
locations all over the country providing services to youth founded by Jim Casey in 1966. Mr. Gossett indicated they have created a presence in terms of funding and supporting innovative best practices and very effective strategies in helping children get off of welfare and into loving family homes. He read the recognition and presented it to Ruth Massinga, President and CEO and Lyman Letgers, Director, Seattle Field Office. Ms. Massinga and Mr. Letgers thanked the Council. |

Presentation of a Recognition to Bellevue Community College for Winning First Place in the
Northwest and Second Place in the Nation in the 2004 American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges |

Mr. McKenna read the recognition and presented it to Bob Adams, Communications, Bellevue
Community College. Mr. Adams thanked the Council. Students David Yu and Zhi Xu thanked the Council. |
Reports on Special and Outside Committees | |||||||

Mr. Pelz reported on the Sound Transit Central Link Oversight Committee. The committee discussed
the value engineering program in Tukwila and saw illustrations of how elevated light rail will be assembled. The committee also had an update on the status of light rail, which is moving ahead. Ms. Edmonds reported that two county agencies received recognitions from the National Association of Counties; the Public Health Department for its food service education program, and the Parks Department for its business plan. She acknowledged the work of Bob Burns, Department of Natural Resources and Parks and Karen Reed, staff consultant in the development of the plan. |
