AN ORDINANCE authorizing the executive to enter into an agreement with the King County Ferry District to provide eligible King County employees with access to King County Ferry District services.

STATEMENT OF FACTS:
1.  On October 9, 1995, the King County council adopted Motion 9679 approving a plan for a transportation and commute trip reduction program for King County worksites.
2.  The employee transportation plan in Attachment A to Motion 9679 was intended to change the commute behavior of county employees and maintain the county's leadership in implementing the state Commute Trip Reduction Act and the Growth Management Act.
3.  King County is committed to promoting the use of public transportation among its employees and the public.
4.  The King County Ferry District provides public transportation options that reduce congestion, lower emissions and provide options to vehicular travel.
5.  The King County Ferry District and the executive have developed an agreement outlining the terms and conditions whereby county employees may use the services provided by the King County Ferry District in a manner that is consistent with the employee transportation program.
6.  On May 2, 2011, the King County council appropriated funding for costs associated with this agreement in Ordinance 17073, Section 21.
      BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
      SECTION 1.  The King County executive is authorized to enter into an agreement with the King County Ferry District to provide access to King County Ferry District
services for eligible King County employees, in substantially the form of Attachment A to this ordinance.
