AN ORDINANCE authorizing the King County executive to execute a revised interlocal Agreement Between King County and the City of Seattle for the Payment of AFIS Operations.

STATEMENT OF FACTS:
1.  King County has used proceeds from a voter approved property tax levy to acquire and operate an automated fingerprint identification system ("AFIS") since 1986.
2.  The program supports staff, facilities and equipment at both the Seattle Police Department and the King County sheriff's office.
3.  On December 23, 1991, King County entered into an interlocal agreement with the city of Seattle for payment of AFIS operations.
4.  The county and city have updated this agreement to clarify use and funding of equipment and operations at Seattle Police Department facilities, and to provide a more defined termination agreement.
5.  Chapter 39.34 RCW authorizes King County and the city of Seattle to enter into a revised interlocal cooperation agreement substantially in the form of Attachment A to this ordinance.
      BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
      SECTION 1.  The King County executive is hereby authorized to execute an interlocal agreement, substantially in the form of Attachment A to this ordinance, with the city of Seattle for the payment of AFIS operations.
