Title
AN ORDINANCE approving the King County agency tenants to occupy the new county office building located on Fifth Avenue and Jefferson Street in Seattle; and amending Ordinance 15390, Section 2, and Ordinance 15390, Section 3.
Body
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
SECTION 1. Findings:
A. Ordinance 15390 established a list of final King County agencies authorized to occupy the new county office building and provided that no other county agency shall be located in the new county office building unless authorized by ordinance.
B. Ordinance 15390 further provided that the executive shall submit a list of any such proposed additional agencies.
C. Ordinance 15328 established a preliminary list of tenants for the new county office building and provided that no other county agency shall be located in the new county office building unless authorized by ordinance.
D. It is the county council's intent to provide flexibility in the programming of space in the new county office building for prospective agencies that require five thousand square feet or less to expedite resolution of space needs for smaller county agencies.
E. Due diligence associated with the construction of a new building on Goat Hill, as proposed in Proposed Ordinance 2006-0379, is related to construction or acquisition of a building to house a consolidated elections facility, and/or a data center and/or the sheriff's criminal investigation division.
F. Should these due diligence efforts in building on Goat Hill, or in acquiring or building on another property, not be successful for siting the sheriff's criminal investigation division, some combination of sheriff's personnel will be a top priority for consideration as a tenant in the new county office building.
G. Space allocation in the new county office building shall be determined through the due diligence process for the Goat Hill and related property search and potential acquisition and shall be in concert with alternative procurement methods. Results of the evaluation and analysis may take precedence over the current plan to locate short-term temporary projects in the new county office building.
