A MOTION approving a project review board-approved plan for the implementation of Transit CIP Project A00453 to replace the existing transit radio system, as required in a 2006 adopted budget proviso.

WHEREAS, King County owns and operates a Transit radio system that is currently operating in the 450 Megahertz frequencies, and
WHEREAS, the Federal Communications Commission has determined that the existing frequencies will not be available beyond 2013, and
WHEREAS, the 2006 adopted budget appropriated capital funds for the replacement of the existing Transit radio system with a 700 Megahertz system, and
WHEREAS, said capital appropriation was subject to a county council proviso that permitted the transit division to enter into a contract for the new transit radio system ("Contract 324542") but not expend most of the appropriated amount until a report addressing the project was recommended by the project review board and approved by motion of the county council, and
WHEREAS, the Project Review Board has reviewed the project report, Attachment A to this motion, and recommends that it be approved by the county council in satisfaction of the budget proviso in order that Contract 324542 and related project activities may continue to be implemented;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
The report required by the 2006 budget proviso related to Transit CIP Project A00453,"Radio & AVL Replacement," attached to this motion is hereby approved and
the full appropriation for CIP Project A00453 is hereby released for expenditure on Contract 324542 and all related project activities.
