Title
A MOTION authorizing the chair of the council to execute an amendment to a contract with The Election Center.
Body
      WHEREAS, the metropolitan King County council contracted with The Election Center to conduct a management audit of the county's elections operations, and
      WHEREAS, at the October 3, 2005, committee-of-the-whole meeting, The Election Center presented the audit report to the council and reviewed the findings and recommendations in the report, and
      WHEREAS, on September 7, 2005, the budget and fiscal management committee discussed the possibility for The Election Center to observe the November 8, 2005, general election as a follow-up to the audit, and
      WHEREAS, a scope of work for the observation of the general election has been developed and is estimated to cost no more than eighty-three thousand, one hundred and twenty-five dollars, and
      WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend the contract with the Election Center to perform this additional scope of work, and
      WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the council's budget to cover the cost, and
      WHEREAS, Motion 10651, Section III, as amended, and OR 1-020 requires the council to authorize the council chair to sign any contracts in excess of twenty-five thousand dollars;
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      The council chair is hereby authorized to execute a contract amendment with The Election Center, substantially in the form attached to this motion, in an amount not to
 
exceed eighty-three thousand, one hundred and twenty-five dollars, for the purpose of observing the November 8, 2005, general election.
