AN ORDINANCE relating to the Community Development Block Grant program; authorizing the executive to enter into agreements with the cities of Federal Way, Renton and Shoreline.
body
STATEMENT OF FACTS:
1.  King County receives an annual Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") entitlement grant and related federal funds from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
2.  The cities of Federal Way, Renton and Shoreline also qualify to receive their own CDBG entitlements.
3.  Federal regulations allow cities that qualify for their own entitlement grants to participate with the county in an urban county consortium, which allows for the county to administer the funds on their behalf.
4.  To participate in the CDBG urban county consortium, cities must enter into three-year cooperation agreements with the county to undertake, or to assist in the undertaking of, essential community development and housing assistance activities.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
SECTION 1.  The King County executive is hereby authorized to enter into agreements, substantially in the form attached to this ordinance, with Federal Way, Renton and Shoreline.
