STATEMENT OF FACTS:
1. The Honorable Kent Pullen served King County as a King County councilmember representing district 9 during four terms of office, beginning in 1989 and winning reelection in 1993, 1997 and 2001. In that period of service, he successfully sponsored many ordinances addressing important health and public safety issues, as well as many improving efficiency and accountability in government.
2. Councilmember Pullen served as: chair of the metropolitan King County council in 1994 and 1995; chair of the law, justice and human services committee from 1990 to 1993 and from 1996 to 1997; and chair of the management, labor and customer services committee from 1997 to 2001.
3. Councilmember Pullen previously served a term in the state house of representatives and four terms in the state senate, in the latter office serving as chair of the senate law and justice committee and successfully prime-sponsoring numerous bills into law.
4. Councilmember Pullen also distinguished himself by earning a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Washington and by working as both a research engineer for the Boeing Corporation and an assistant professor of chemistry at the University of Idaho.
5. While Councilmember Kent Pullen passed away on April 14, 2003, his contributions to the citizens of King County and his work as a King County councilmember will remain with us.
6. We wish to recognize councilmember Kent Pullen's significant service.
