A MOTION approving funding for fourteen projects for the 2002 King County arts commission community arts initiative and funding for one hundred and fifty-eight projects for the 2002 King County arts commission sustained support program in accordance with K.C.C. 4.42.100.

      WHEREAS, the King County arts commission is authorized by K.C.C. 4.42.100 to administer the community arts initiative and sustained support program, and
      WHEREAS, the King County arts commission received sixteen applications from King County libraries, community centers and arts councils in rural and suburban King County requesting funds from the 2002 King County arts commission community arts initiative, funded by the current expense fund, and the King County arts commission received one hundred seventy-two applications from King County arts organizations and local arts agencies requesting funds from the 2002 King County arts commission sustained support program funded by the cultural development fund, and
      WHEREAS, King County arts commission representatives reviewed applications to the community arts initiative and sustained support program and made recommendations to the King County arts commission, and
      WHEREAS, the King County arts commission approved and recommended forty-five thousand dollars for the 2002 community arts initiative to provide funding for community arts programs by fourteen suburban and rural arts agencies, libraries and arts councils, and the King County arts commission approved and recommended nine hundred forty-four thousand one hundred sixty-one dollars for the 2002 sustained support program to provide funding for one hundred fifty-eight projects by arts organizations and local arts agencies, and
      WHEREAS, the King County arts commission approved the recommendations listed in Attachments A.1 and A.2 (2002 community arts initiative) and B.1 and B.2 (sustained support program) to this motion, and
      WHEREAS, the recommendations for arts projects adhere to the guidelines and financial plan approved by the King County council in K.C.C. 4.42.100, and
      WHEREAS, the financial plan, Attachment D to this motion, has been revised to indicate actual current expense figures for 2002 and hotel/motel tax revenues for 2001, and
      WHEREAS, the financial plan supports community arts initiative and sustained support program funding:
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      The executive is hereby authorized to allocate a total of nine hundred eighty-nine thousand one hundred sixty-one dollars that includes forty-five thousand dollars from current expense funds for fourteen community arts projects as listed in Attachment A.1 and A.2 to this motion, and nine hundred forty-four thousand one hundred sixty-one dollars from the cultural development fund for one hundred fifty-eight sustained support projects as listed in Attachment B.1 and B.2 to this motion.
