Title

A MOTION confirming the appointment of Hillary Coleman to the citizens' elections oversight committee as a representative of King County registered voters for a three-year term.

Body

                     WHEREAS, King County is committed to conducting open, accurate and fair elections, and

                     WHEREAS, the citizens' election oversight committee help to ensure that accountability and performance of the elections division is provided in a transparent manner that is meaningful to King County residents, and

                     WHEREAS, fifteen of the sixteen positions on the citizens' election oversight committee are currently vacant, and

                     WHEREAS, in accordance with K.C.C. 2.53.021, King County council is tasked with appointing new members of the citizens' election oversight committee, and

                     WHEREAS, in accordance with K.C.C. 2.28.010, when the King County council recreates a board with more than nine members, the appointed terms are staggered:  one-fourth for one year, one-fourth for two years, one-fourth for three years or the full term if the full term is three years, and one-fourth for full terms, and

                     WHEREAS, on September 16, 2019, in accordance with K.C.C. 2.53.021, the employment and administration committee of the King County council appointed Hillary Coleman to a three-year term;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:

                     The appointment of Hillary Coleman to serve on the citizens' elections oversight

committee as a representative of King County registered voters for a three-year staggered term ending September 2022 is hereby confirmed.
