A RESOLUTION approving an agreement with the City of Renton regarding the Cedar River Section 205 Levee Certification Project.

                     WHEREAS, the Cedar River Section 205 Levee ("the Levee") protects property and government facilities in Renton including the Renton Municipal Airport, the Boeing Commercial 737 Airplane Production Facility, the Renton Senior Center, the regional Cedar River Trail park and both commercial and residential areas on both the right and left banks from River Mile 0 to 1.25and businesses in Renton, and

                     WHEREAS, if these areas were to be classified as special flood hazard areas there would be significant economic and development impacts, and

                     WHEREAS, the King County Flood Control District ("the District") desires to improve the Levee ("the Project") to provide improved flood protection and scour protection, to assist the City of Renton ("the City") in obtaining Federal Emergency Management Agency accreditation of the Levee and to enable certification, and

                     WHEREAS, the District has included the Project in its CIP and budget, in a total amount of $5,000,000, and

                     WHEREAS, the City has agreed to serve as service provider to the District on the Project;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE KING COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL ZONE DISTRICT:

                     SECTION 1.  The board of supervisors approves the Agreement for Cedar River Section 205 Levees Accreditation Design, Construction, Permitting, and Project

Management River Mile 0 to 1.25, Right and Left Banks, Attachment A to this resolution, and authorizes the chair to sign the agreement.
