Title

A MOTION adopting the 2019 work plan for the government accountability and oversight committee.

Body

                     WHEREAS, the responsibilities of the government accountability and oversight committee for 2019 are detailed in Motion 15298, and

                     WHEREAS, Motion 15298 charges the government accountability and oversight committee with considering and making policy recommendations relating to:

                       1.  Improving the efficiency, cost effectiveness, and performance of all branches of county government (legislative, executive and judicial);

                       2.  Enhancing oversight, accountability and transparency in King County government, the annual county audit program and federal, state or county audit reports, the administration of the Public Records Act, capital projects oversight, strategic planning, performance measurement and performance management, management organizational structure and technology management;

                       3.  General government oversight, including customer service, worker safety, the department of assessments; elections; records and licensing; animal control; cable communications; the county fair; King County international airport; risk management; veterans, and executive services such as telecommunications, facilities management, purchasing and real property management; and

                       4.  The implementation of appropriate labor agreements, and

                     WHEREAS, in the areas within the committee's purview, the committee shall track state and federal legislative action and develop recommendations on policy direction for the biennial budget, and

                     WHEREAS, the committee has developed a work plan or 2019 to facilitate its review and development of policy options and recommendations on these and other issues, and

                     WHEREAS, the committee seeks full council support for its work plan;

                     NOW THEREFORE BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:

                     The government accountability and oversight committee's 2019 work plan, Attachment A to this motion, is hereby accepted.
