Title

A MOTION relating to the King County Metro transit department parking fee program, approving the King County Metro transit department parking fee program plan, in accordance with the 2019-2020 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 18835, Section 109, Proviso P5.

Body

                     WHEREAS, Ordinance 18449, enacted January 2017, adopted the department of transportation's long-range plan, METRO CONNECTS.  The relevant duties of the department of transportation at that time now reside with the Metro transit department, and

                     WHEREAS, METRO CONNECTS prioritizes managing parking supply, specifically implementing permits and payment for parking to make it easier for customers to find spaces, and

                     WHEREAS, Ordinance 18837, enacted November 2018 authorizes the Metro transit department to impose fees for use of park and ride facilities as a parking and demand management measure, and

                     WHEREAS, Ordinance 18835, Section 109, Proviso P5, requires that a parking fee program plan be transmitted to the council, and

                     WHEREAS, King County Metro transit department staff have compiled the required information and the executive has transmitted the Parking Facility User Fee Revenue Expenditure Plan and Parking Fee Program Plan, set forth as Attachment A to this motion, to the council;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:

                     The council hereby approves the Parking Facility User Fee Revenue Expenditure

Plan and Parking Fee Program Plan, which is Attachment A to this motion, as required in the 2019-2020 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 18835, Section 109, Proviso P5.
