Title
A MOTION appointing committees to write the voters' pamphlet statements for and against Proposition 1 placed on the ballot by Ordinance 18890 for the August 6, 2019, election.
Body
WHEREAS, in accordance with RCW 29A.32.210, King County has codified in K.C.C. chapter 1.10 the authorization to publish and distribute a local voters' pamphlets for all general elections and primaries and for special elections when a county elective office or ballot measure is to appear on the ballot, and
WHEREAS, under RCW 29A.32.280, for each measure from a unit of local government that is included in a local voters' pamphlet, the legislative authority of that jurisdiction shall formally appoint a committee to prepare arguments advocating voter approval of the measure and a committee to prepare arguments advocating voter rejection of the measure, and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 18890, adopted April 17, 2019, provides for submission to the voters at a special election to be held on August 6, 2019, of a proposition authorizing a property tax levy in excess of the levy limitation contained in chapter 84.55 RCW for a consecutive six-year period at a total rate of not more than $0.1832 per one thousand dollars of assessed valuation in the first year, and limiting annual levy increases to the limit factor defined in Ordinance 18890 for the five succeeding years for the purposes set out in Ordinance 18890;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
Pursuant to RCW 29A.32.280, the following individuals are appointed to serve on the voters' pamphlet committees for Proposition 1 placed on the ballot by Ordinance 18890, each committee to write a statement for or against the proposed amendment, for the August 6, 2019, special election:
