A MOTION acknowledging receipt of a Cedar Hills Tonnage and Capacity Report prepared in accordance with the 2017/2018 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 18409, Section 107, Proviso P2.

                     WHEREAS, the 2017/2018 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 18409, Section 107, Proviso P2, states that $2,462,500 shall not be expended or encumbered until the executive transmits two reports: the first on solid waste system tonnage and the second on expansion of the Cedar Hills regional landfill, and motions that acknowledge receipt of the reports and the motions are passed by the council, and

WHEREAS, Motion 15052, passed January 29, 2018, acknowledged that the first part of Proviso P2 was satisfied by the timely receipt of the 2017 Solid Waste Tonnage Report, and

                     WHEREAS, the ordinance requires the second report to include but not be limited to:

                     A.  The actual tonnage received for 2017;

                     B.  A comparison of the costs to expand the capacity of the Cedar Hills regional landfill, with the cost of waste export;

                     C.  A projected date of closure for the Cedar Hills regional landfill, in the absence of the expansion of the landfill; and

                     D.  Recommendation for extending the life of the Cedar Hills regional landfill, and

                     WHEREAS, the executive has transmitted to the council the requested second report and a motion;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:

                     Receipt of the Cedar Hills Landfill Tonnage and Capacity Report submitted as

Attachment A to this motion in accordance with the 2017-2018 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 18409, Section 107, Proviso P2, is hereby acknowledged.
