Title

AN ORDINANCE making a supplemental appropriation of $381,000 to elections; and amending the 2017-2018 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 18409, Section 35, as amended.

Body

                     BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:

                     SECTION 1.  Ordinance 18409, Section 35, as amended, is hereby amended as follows:

                     ELECTIONS - From the general fund there is hereby appropriated to:

                     Elections                     $381,000

                     ER1 EXPENDITURE RESTRICTION:

                     Of this appropriation, $381,000 shall be expended or encumbered for:

                     A.  Implementing prepaid postage on ballot-return envelopes for the August 2018 primary and November 2018 general elections; and

                     B.  Evaluating the feasibility of providing King County registered voters the option of placing postage on ballot-return envelopes in order to save county resources.  If the concept is feasible, the director of elections may implement the ballot-return envelope postage options for the August 2018 primary and November 2018 general elections.
