A RESOLUTION adopting the 2018 work plan for the King County Board of Health.
Body
WHEREAS, Washington state law vests in the King County Board of Health broad authority and responsibility to protect the health of the people of King County through including, but not limited to, the enactment of rules and regulations, guidelines and recommendations and resolutions to preserve, promote and improve the public health; the prevention and control of contagious diseases; and the establishment of fees for health-related licenses and permits, and
WHEREAS, through resolutions the King County Board of Health has adopted annual work programs since 2006 to carry out its responsibilities, and
WHEREAS, consistent with its adopted goals in 2017, the King County Board of Health: adopted rules and regulations relating to food safety ratings for food service establishments, and permits for farmers market and temporary food establishments; adopted a rules and regulation regarding rabies vaccination requirements for dogs, cats, ferrets and livestock; adopted a rule and regulation relating to disclosure of information by limited service pregnancy centers; and adopted resolutions regarding, for example, endorsing the Heroin and Prescription Opiate Addiction Task Force Final Report, and calling on lawmakers to take meaningful action to address firearm tragedy, and
WHEREAS, in 2018, the King County Board of Health will hold regular meetings on the third Thursday of the month, and
WHEREAS, the priorities set for the King County Board of Health in 2018 include: prevention strategies; health system transformation; public health financing; healthy housing; environmental health; health care for the homeless; and items of interest and emerging issues;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Health of King County:
The 2018 King County Board of Health Work Plan, Attachment A to this resolution, is hereby adopted.
