Title
A MOTION confirming the rescission of the policy declaration contained in Motion 8005; and rescinding Motion 8005.
Body
      WHEREAS, the county council on July 30, 1990, adopted Motion 8005, which stated that it was "the sense of the Council that employees covered under the Corrections Collective Bargaining Agreement should receive the same negotiated wage increases as that received by employees covered under the Commissioned Police Officers Collective Bargaining Agreement," and
      WHEREAS, the county council on July 14, 2010, adopted Comprehensive Labor Policies, administratively designated LP 2010-031, which specifically provided that they "rescind[ed] and supersede[d] all previously-adopted public labor policies," but which did not include Motion 8005 in the list of specific, numbered labor policies that were rescinded, Motion 8005 not having been administratively assigned a labor policy number, and
      WHEREAS, it was the council's intention, in adopting Comprehensive Labor Policies LP 2010-031, to "rescind and supersede all previously-adopted public labor policies," regardless of whether they were designated as "Labor Policies" and numbered LP-X for administrative purposes or were adopted by motion, and
      WHEREAS, the duties of corrections officers and sergeants are substantially different from, and more limited in scope than, the duties of the deputies and sergeants of the sheriff's office;
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      A.  Motion 8005 is hereby rescinded.
      B.  The rescission of the 1990 policy declaration that "that employees covered under the Corrections Collective Bargaining Agreement should receive the same
negotiated wage increases as that received by employees covered under the Commissioned Police Officers Collective Bargaining Agreement" is hereby confirmed.
