A MOTION accepting a report of a nationally recognized jail operations consultant to evaluate consultant reports, proviso responses, audits and department planning efforts related to the operations of the county's adult detention facilities conducted in the last ten years as required by the 2013 Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 17476, Section 48, Proviso P2, as amended.

WHEREAS, the King County council in the 2013 Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 17476, Section 48, Proviso P2, as amended by Ordinance 17619, Section 20, Proviso P2, required the approval by motion of a report where the department of adult and juvenile detention engaged the services of a nationally recognize jail operations consultant, the CNA Corporation, and
WHEREAS, the consultants were asked to evaluate past consultant reports, proviso responses, audits and department planning efforts related to the operations of the county's adult detention facilities conducted in the last ten years, and
WHEREAS, the report:
1. Evaluates the recommendations in past documents;
2. Determines which have been completed, which are not viable, which would be beneficial operationally or financially to implement and which require further study; and
3. Provides for those recommendations that would be beneficial to implement an implementation strategy and a timeline that takes into account ongoing planning efforts, and
WHEREAS, the executive has transmitted to the council with this motion the report called for in the proviso;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
The report demonstrating the department of adult and juvenile detention's
response as identified in Ordinance 17476, Section 48, Proviso P2, as amended, which is Attachment A to this motion, is hereby accepted.
