Title
A MOTION acknowledging receipt of a report containing a plan to establish a memorial in a public portion of the courthouse; directing the sheriff's office to work with the facilities management division to submit an image fit to scale for the final design of the memorial for council approval prior to installation; and to work with the facilities management division to install the memorial, in compliance with Ordinance 17554.
Body
      WHEREAS, the council has charged the sheriff's office to work with the facilities management division and the executive to design and install a memorial in the King County Courthouse for sheriff's deputies who have lost their lives in the line of duty, and
      WHEREAS, representatives from the sheriff's office, the facilities management division and the executive have met several times to discuss the scope of designing and installing a memorial in the courthouse, and
      WHEREAS, the council has received a report detailing the proposed location, method to solicit designs, identification of needed approvals and proposed schedule for the memorial;
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      The report containing a plan to establish a memorial in a public portion of the courthouse, Attachment A to this motion, is hereby acknowledged.  The sheriff's office is hereby directed to work with the facilities management division to submit an image fit to scale for the final design of the memorial for council review before installation and to work with the facilities management division to install the memorial.
