A MOTION acknowledging receipt of a report regarding a long-range plan to find efficiencies in the criminal justice system in compliance with the 2013 Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 17476, Section 19, Proviso P5.

      WHEREAS, the 2013 Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 17476, Section 19, Proviso P5, requires the executive to transmit a motion and report by August 1, 2013, and
      WHEREAS, the report provides long-range ideas for finding efficiencies in the criminal justice system; and
      WHEREAS, the report describes a methodology for evaluating how the actions of one agency can potentially save money and create efficiencies in other agencies, and how the executive can appropriately allocate the costs and savings of cross-system changes to all criminal justice agencies; and
      WHEREAS, the report was developed by the office of performance, strategy and budget in collaboration with the superior and district courts, the department of judicial administration, the prosecuting attorney's office, the department of public defense, the department of adult and juvenile detention, jail health services and the sheriff's office;
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      The report relating to finding efficiencies in the criminal justice system in compliance with the 2013 Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 17746, Section 19, Proviso P5, which is Attachment A to this motion, is hereby acknowledged.
