Title
A MOTION adopting the 2013 work program for the government accountability and oversight committee.
Body
WHEREAS, the council has charged the government accountability and oversight committee with considering and making recommendations on: policies relating to the department of assessments; elections; records and licensing; animal control; cable communications; the county fair; King County international airport; risk management; executive services such as telecommunications, facilities management, purchasing and real property management; capital project oversight; and wastewater treatment as well as strategic planning; performance management and performance measurement; management organizational structure; technology management; customer service; and the efficiency, cost effectiveness and performance of all branches of county government (legislative, executive and judicial), and
WHEREAS, the government and accountability and oversight committee is also charged with developing recommendations on policy direction for the 2014 budget for areas within the committee's purview, and
WHEREAS, the committee has, therefore, developed a work plan for 2013 to facilitate its review of: the work of the King County Auditor's Office; taxicab and franchise agreements; elections and technology oversight; performance management; appointments to boards and commissions; and its development of policy options and recommendations on these and other issues, and
WHEREAS, the committee seeks to be fully transparent and accountable to the public for its work program, and
WHEREAS, the committee seeks full council involvement in and support for its work program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
The government accountability and oversight committee's 2013 work program, Attachment A to this motion, is hereby adopted.
