Title
A MOTION appointing Rod Dembowski as the King County councilmember representing council district one, in accordance with Section 680.10 of the King County Charter and RCW 36.16.110(3).
Body
      WHEREAS, on January 16, 2013, councilmember Bob Ferguson resigned from his position as the King County councilmember representing council district one to take office as Attorney General of the State of Washington, and
      WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 680.10 of the King County Charter and RCW 36.16.110(3), the council is authorized to fill the vacancy by appointing a new councilmember to represent council district one until a successor is elected and qualified at the next general election, which will be held on November 5, 2013, and
      WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 36.16.110(3) the county executive has nominated three candidates to the council for its consideration, and
      WHEREAS, the council is required by RCW 36.16.110(3) to fill the vacancy from among the candidates nominated by the executive, and
      WHEREAS, the council has carefully considered the candidates nominated by the executive and has decided upon the candidate who will best serve council district one until the next general election,
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      The metropolitan King County council hereby appoints Rod Dembowski to serve as the King County councilmember representing council district one until the successor to the office has been elected and qualified at the general election on November 5, 2013.
