AN ORDINANCE authorizing the executive to enter into a lease for twenty-three thousand two hundred fourteen square feet of office space in the Union Bank of California building for one year for prosecuting attorney and crisis and commitment services.

PREAMBLE:
In accordance with K.C.C. 4.04.040, the King County council may adopt an ordinance permitting the county to enter into contracts requiring the payment of funds from the appropriation of subsequent fiscal years.
      BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
      SECTION 1.  The King County executive is hereby authorized to execute the lease with extensions, in substantially the form attached, for twenty-three thousand two hundred fourteen square feet of space located in the Union Bank of California Building to commence January 1, 2004, and to be distributed as follows:  six thousand four hundred seventeen square feet for crisis and commitment services for one year; and sixteen thousand seven hundred ninety-seven square feet for the prosecuting attorney for a one-year term with the option for one twelve-month option.  The rental amount will be forty-eight thousand three hundred sixty-two dollars and fifty cents per month for year one, which is twenty-five dollars per square foot per year.  After one year, crisis and commitment services will relocate to a county-owned building.  The prosecuting attorney's office will also relocate then or the following year.
