AN ORDINANCE relating to the Seattle-King County department of public health; establishing fees under the authority of K.C.C. 2.99.030.B. for copies of certain medical examiner reports to align revenues to associated costs; and amending Ordinance 11137, Section 1 (part), and K.C.C. 4.88.010 and Ordinance 11137, Section 1 (part), and K.C.C. 4.88.020.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
SECTION 1. A. Section 2 of this ordinance proposes changes in fees for copies of medical examiner autopsy reports and determinations.
B. The fees are imposed under K.C.C. 2.99.030.B.
SECTION 2. Ordinance 11137, Section 1 (part), and K.C.C. 4.88.010 are each hereby amended to read as follows:
A. ((Copies of medical examiner autopsy reports - fee.)) Any person, agent or company who requests and receives a copy of an autopsy report in accordance with RCW 68.50.105 shall be charged a fee of ((twenty)) forty dollars ((($20.00))).
B. ((Copies of medical examiner determinations - fee.)) Any person, agent or company who requests and receives a copy of a determination shall be charged a fee of ((ten)) twenty dollars ((($10.00))).
C. Revenues generated by the cremation permit fee shall be expended to support the King County medical examiner's office.
SECTION 3. Ordinance 11137, Section 1 (part), and K.C.C. 4.88.020 are each hereby amended to read as follows:
The director of the Seattle-King County department of public health is authorized to waive the fees established by ((this section)) K.C.C. 4.88.010, when ((said)) the reports are requested and received by the decedent's attending physician or by law enforcement
agencies or officials conducting criminal investigations or prosecutions.
SECTION 4. This ordinance takes effect January 1, 2008.
