title
A MOTION requesting the Washington state supreme court's assistance in conducting a weighted caseload analysis of King County district court.
body
      WHEREAS, annexations, incorporations, and establishment of municipal courts within King County have affected district court judicial workload since the state legislature established the number of district court judges for King County at twenty-six in 1992, and
      WHEREAS, RCW 3.34.020 authorizes county legislative authorities to request the assistance of the Washington state supreme court to direct the administrator for state courts to conduct a weighted caseload analysis as the first step of a process to decide whether the number of judicial positions in a county should be changed;
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      The metropolitan King County council hereby requests the Washington state supreme court to initiate a weighted caseload analysis to determine the appropriate number of district court judges for King County.
      The metropolitan King County council respectfully requests that the study be completed in time for the 2002 session of the Washington state legislature to consider the results of the study.
