body
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
      SECTION 1.  Findings of fact.
      A.  The Washington state Department of Corrections ("DOC") has the authority to detain, or cause to be arrested, certain individuals.  The DOC desires to have these individuals housed by the department of adult and juvenile detention.
      B.  The department of adult and juvenile detention would like to make use of the DOC's work release facility.
      C.  Due to King County's ongoing budget crisis, there is no room available for DOC inmates without compensation to cover the costs of housing such inmates.
      D.  The attached interlocal agreement provides that the county will make twenty jail beds available for DOC inmates in exchange for the use of thirty beds in DOC work release facilities.  Also, the DOC will pay for an additional one hundred twenty to two hundred jail beds daily during the term of the agreement.
SECTION 2.  The King County executive is hereby authorized to execute an Interlocal Agreement in substantially the form of the attached interlocal agreement.
