Title
A RESOLUTION approving an interlocal agreement with the city of North Bend regarding the Ribary Creek Flood Risk Reduction Project.
Body
WHEREAS, frequent flooding of Ribary Creek results in damaged property, makes businesses inaccessible, and temporarily closes State Route 202, Bendigo Boulevard South in North Bend, and
WHEREAS, larger, less-frequent floods result in impacts to commercial properties and North Bend arterials, and
WHEREAS, on July 17, 2017, the King County Flood Control Zone District Executive Committee approved the South Fork Snoqualmie River Capital Investment Strategy ("CIS") as policy guidance, and
WHEREAS, the South Fork CIS identifies levee setbacks, gravel removal, and culvert replacement as potential tools to be considered in developing a comprehensive flood risk reduction strategy at this location, and
WHEREAS, the city of North Bend operates and maintains drainage structures along Ribary Creek, and
WHEREAS, the city of North Bend and the King County Flood Control Zone District ("the District" have identified the need for a Ribrary Creek Flood Risk Reduction Project ("the Project"), and
WHEREAS, the Project is included in the District's 2022 annual budget, in a total amount of $456,168 to advance the Project to 30 percent design, and
WHEREAS, the city of North Bend has agreed to serve as the District's service provider for the Project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE KING COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL ZONE DISTRICT:
SECTION 1. The board of supervisors approves the Agreement for Ribary Creek Flood Risk Reduction Project Between the King County Flood Control Zone
District and the City of North Bend, Attachment A to this resolution, and authorizes the chair to sign the agreement.
