Title

AN ORDINANCE establishing the position of chief information security officer within the department of information technology; and adding a new section to K.C.C. chapter 2A.380.

Body

                     BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:

                     NEW SECTION.  SECTION 1.  There is hereby added to K.C.C. chapter 2A.380 a new section to read as follows:

                     A.  The position of chief information security officer shall exist within the department of information technology.  The chief information security officer shall establish, oversee, and maintain the county's cybersecurity and privacy program and serve as the sole authority on cybersecurity and privacy matters countywide, across all branches of government.

                     B.  The chief information security officer shall report to the chief information officer.  To ensure countywide protection of systems and data, the chief information security officer shall maintain a reporting relationship to a member of the executive office, as designated by the county executive.

                     C.  The chief information security officer shall have the sole authority to develop,

implement and enforce cybersecurity and privacy policies, standards, procedures, and practices countywide across all branches of government.
