Title

A MOTION appointing a qualified person to Position No. 2 on the Fire District No. 24 board of commissioners.

Body

                     WHEREAS, Fire District No. 24 ("the district") is a special purpose district, and

                     WHEREAS, the district's governing body is a three-member board of commissioners ("the board"), and

                     WHEREAS, currently all three board positions are vacant, and

                     WHEREAS, according to the county's department of elections, Position No. 2 would be up for election in 2027 for a limited four-year term, with its term ending on December 31, 2031, and

                     WHEREAS, RCW 42.12.080 describes the process for filling a vacancy on local governing bodies in special purpose districts, and

                     WHEREAS, in accordance with RCW 42.12.080, if less than two members of a governing body remain in office, the county legislative authority of the county in which all or the largest geographic portion of the city, town, or qualifying special purpose district is located shall appoint a qualified person or persons to the governing body until the governing body has two members, and

                     WHEREAS, in accordance with RCW 42.12.080, the King County council shall appoint a qualified person until the board has two members, after which the two commissioners have ninety days to fill the remaining vacancy;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the council of King County:

                     In accordance with RCW 42.12.080 the King County council hereby appoints Anton Joseph Zgraggen to fill Position No. 2 on the Fire District No. 24 board of commissioners.
