A MOTION approving the King County fleet conversion plan on ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel.

WHEREAS, according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the Puget Sound region is among the dirtiest five percent in the nation, and
WHEREAS, diesel exhaust is a major contributor to the region's poor air quality, and
WHEREAS, the executive proposed an initiative to begin the use of ultra-low diesel fuel on King County's bus fleet, and
WHEREAS, the King County council approved Ordinance 14265, which included a proviso requiring a fleet conversion plan for the retrofit of the King County metro transit bus fleet for operation on ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel that addresses the costs and benefits of the conversion as well as the consequences of choosing instead to proceed with the conversion according to the federally established timetable;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
The King County fleet conversion plan, substantially in the form of Attachment A to this motion, is hereby approved.
