A MOTION appointing the four county council appointees to the 2021 districting committee.

Body

                     WHEREAS, Section 650.30.20 of the King County Charter calls for a districting committee to be formed every ten years coinciding with the federal decennial census, and

                     WHEREAS, the charter designates appointment authority for four of the five districting committee members to the county council, and

                     WHEREAS, those first four appointees select the fifth member of the committee, who serves as chair, and

                     WHEREAS, the work of the districting committee must be completed by the end of 2021, and

                     WHEREAS, Ordinance 19178, enacted in October 2020, the council revised the appointment process for the districting committee to remove the concept of partisan appointments and to add clarity, and

                     WHEREAS, the work of the districting committee must be consistent with RCW 29A.76.010;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:

                     The council hereby appoints the following four individuals to serves as the council's appointees to the 2021 districting committee:

                     A.  Sophia Danenberg;

                     B.  Paul Graves;

                     C.  Cherryl Jackson-Williams; and

                     D.  Rob Saka.
